The City of Schenectady was awarded $10 Million through Round 4 of New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) for the Capital Region. Metroplex was approved as the City’s administrator of several of the recommended projects. Learn more here.

Projects Underway: 

 

Jay Street Improvements: Spring 2025

Metroplex, in cooperation with the Jay Street Business Association (JSBA), will be making improvements on Jay Street over the next couple of months.

ALCO Trail Extension and ALCO Tunnel: Spring 2025

Metroplex in coordination with the City of Schenectady will be making improvements to the ALCO Heritage Trail and ALCO Tunnel over the next couple of months.

Signage and Wayfinding Project: Spring – Summer 2025

The City of Schenectady in coordination with Metroplex, Discover Schenectady, Downtown Schenectady Improvement District (DSIC), and Proctors are working to advance the Signage and Wayfinding DRI Project. The goal of project is to create a comprehensive and cohesive signage and wayfinding program for the City of Schenectady. New signage and wayfinding are needed to direct visitors to various attractions, encourage visitors to explore more of downtown, support local businesses, and create a more welcoming downtown!
