Schenectady, N.Y. – The Schenectady County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) today approved an expansion at EMI Guide Rail, LLC in the Town of Rotterdam.
EMI is investing $255,000 to renovate a 6,600 square foot facility in Rotterdam. The company will add two jobs to its existing 26 person workforce this year.
EMI was founded in 1998. The company provides bridge rail, guide rail and other support services for major road and bridge construction projects in New York State. The company also erects highways signs. EMI’s customers include state agencies as well as local governments, large commercial developers, retailers and airports. The company has completed numerous projects including guide railing replacement projects in Warren, Essex, Livingston and Wyoming counties, NYS Rt. 17, the Walkway over the Hudson River in the Hudson Valley and the UAlbany NanoFab West Expansion.
The company is a NYS and Vermont certified woman-owned business enterprise.

The County IDA today approved an exemption from sales and mortgage recording tax for the building renovation project.
First Niagara Bank is financing the project.
The Schenectady County IDA is administered by Metroplex as part of Schenectady County’s unified economic development team.
