SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. — Schenectady County and Discover Schenectady, the County’s Tourism and Convention Bureau, are proud to announce the First Annual Nearly New Year’s Eve Celebration presented by MVP Health Care on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the new Gateway Park located on the corner of State Street and Washington Avenue in Schenectady.
“Schenectady County is proud to present this unique New Year’s celebration,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “This event for all ages will feature illuminated displays and interactive sensory activities throughout the new Gateway Park in the City of Schenectady. I encourage all of our residents and visitors to bring your family and friends to this fun-filled night and begin celebrating the New Year in Schenectady County.”
“Discover Schenectady is excited to partner with Schenectady County to bring this night of music, fun and laser lights to the new Gateway Park,” said Jeff McDonald, Chairman of Discover Schenectady and a member of the County Legislature. “This unique event will draw from the Capital Region and beyond giving us the opportunity to showcase the fun that can be had in Schenectady County.”
This FREE family celebration begins at 6 PM with music, family friendly activities, and food and drink vendors. A thirty-minute New Year’s Laser Light Show Spectacular begins at 8:30 PM and closes the event. Attendees of legal drinking age can visit a pop-up Schenectady Ale Trail featuring craft beer from Schenectady County’s finest brewers Druthers, Frog Alley, Great Flats, Mad Jack, and Wolf Hollow.
This is a rain, snow or shine event. In the event of severe weather, the laser light show and activities will move into the Schenectady Armory Center. Updates will be posted on the Schenectady County website and Facebook page and tweeted to all of our followers. Parking will be available in the SUNY Schenectady parking lot. Please follow posted signs.
The celebration would not be possible without the support of our presenting sponsor MVP Health Care and our partners at Redburn Development, Price Chopper & Market 32, Sunmark FCU, and Legere Restoration and the Schenectady Armory Center.
