Schenectady, N.Y. — The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority today announced funding for three infrastructure projects.
Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “We continue to invest in infrastructure as it directly supports our efforts to create tax base and jobs in Schenectady County.”
Metroplex will provide $108,000 to extend water lines at the County’s Airport Business Park on Route 50 in Glenville. The water line extension will serve existing businesses and open up additional sites for development. C2 Architecture and Euro Tile & Stone just started construction of a 12,000 square foot facility at the business park. Bruno Associates recently completed construction of a 15,000 square foot manufacturing facility. Other tenants include: Richmor Aviation; REVA, the largest aero-medical transport company in North America; DSM, a global leader in nutritional products; an Armed Forces Reserve Training Center, and SUNY Schenectady Community College’s flight training and air traffic controller training programs. The airport is also home to the Stratton Air National Guard base.
The second project involves replacing the first-floor deck on the Metroplex Parking Garage located on Broadway in downtown Schenectady. Two bids were received for the project. The contract was awarded to Callanan Industries, Inc. of Schenectady for $218,500. Once the deck is repaved it will be sealed and restriped. The parking garage has capacity for 1,200 cars on five decks.
The third project involves improving sidewalks, lighting and landscaping on the 500-block of State Street in front of the Foster Building. The Foster complex recently received a $7 million makeover by a private developer and is fully leased with retail, residential and office tenants. The contract was awarded to James H. Maloy, Inc. of Colonie for $311,500.
