M/E Engineering Selects Center City for Capital Region Office

Schenectady, N.Y., June 23, 2010 –Schenectady County officials today announced that M/E Engineering, P.C. has selected the new Center City building in downtown Schenectady as the site for the fast growing engineering company’s Capital Region office.

“We are pleased to welcome M/E Engineering to Schenectady County.  This firm is one of the fastest growing and most successful engineering companies in the Northeastern United States.  This project brings 30 jobs to Schenectady County with the potential to grow to 50 jobs. This latest job announcement is further proof that our community is leading the way in terms of new jobs and new investments,” said Susan E. Savage, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature.

The Center City project is a $30 million, 200,000 square foot office, retail and fitness facility being developed by the Galesi Group directly across the street from Proctors Theater. Other tenants include MVP, NBT Bank and a new branch for the Schenectady YMCA.

M/E Engineering specializes in designing mechanical and electrical systems for large building and energy projects.  The firm is well-known for bringing considerable expertise in building systems to the forefront of each project helping to create advanced heating and cooling systems within buildings that are both energy efficient and cost effective.  The firm has a large number of staff trained in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) as well as being an Energy Star provider and a member of the Green Building Council.

The company is based in Rochester, N.Y. with offices in Buffalo, Syracuse and Colonie.  M/E needed additional space for its local office and considered locations throughout the Capital Region before selecting the Center City Building.

M/E will occupy the fourth floor in the west wing of the building.  The firm will occupy 10,000 square feet of space with options to expand to accommodate future growth.

In recognition of the company’s investment in Schenectady County, Metroplex will provide a $100,000 grant to reimburse the company for a portion of lease costs.
