SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Redburn Development Partners announced today that Liza’s will open a second location at 508 State Street in Downtown Schenectady as part of the growing $8 million Foster Block redevelopment. Liza’s will lease 2,600 square feet for both a retail store and restaurant.
While catering to those with common food allergies, the new location, like the one in Troy, will be a health food cafe offering everything from breakfast and lunch to coffee and espresso, smoothies and acai bowls.
Owner Liza Morgan, 24, said, “Our generation has awakened a movement towards honest, sustainable, real, health foods and it’s what we at Liza’s care most about. The origin of our food, the simple ingredients and the reason behind it all. The investment in us promises investment in you and your health. Bite by bite. We are really looking forward to expanding to our second location. Most of all, we are excited to be part of the revival that is taking place in downtown Schenectady.”
The new Liza’s of Schenectady plans a late November open. Like the Troy store, the Schenectady location will feature special events like yoga and brunch.
Jeff Buell, Principal, Redburn Development said, “The only thing that matches Liza’s energy and ingenuity is the food she creates with the exact same characteristics. This is a high tide raising all ships moment in Downtown Schenectady as we continue to populate formerly vacant storefronts with sustainably and thoughtfully curated concepts.”
The Foster Block redevelopment includes the historic Foster building built in 1907 and four adjoining structures that have all been completely renovated. The complex now features 21 apartments, Bluebird Home Décor, Slidin’ Dirty and the Makeup Curio. The development team plans on adding an additional building in the coming months.
