Galesi Group to Build New 100,000 Square Foot Warehouse in Rotterdam
September 9, 2015, Schenectady, N.Y., — The Galesi Group will build a new 100,000 square foot warehouse at the Rotterdam Corporate Park investing more than $5 million in Schenectady County.
“This expansion is great news for the Rotterdam Corporate Park which is already the largest business park in the Capital Region,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature. “This investment by the Galesi Group will help us attract more business and increase our tax base to benefit the entire community.”
The new building will be utilized by Distribution Unlimited, a Galesi-owned company that provides logistics services to clients across the Northeastern United States. Distribution Unlimited needs additional warehouse space and after considering multiple locations, the Rotterdam Corporate Park was selected for the new 100,000 square foot warehouse building.
David M. Buicko, COO of the Galesi Group said, “We are pleased to be making this new investment in Rotterdam. The Rotterdam Corporate Park is located near the point where I-90, I-88 and Route 7 meet. This is a great location for growing businesses like Distribution Unlimited.”
Distribution Unlimited is one of the largest third-party logistics providers in the Northeast. The company provides public warehousing, freezer/cooler storage, order selection, inventory management, bulk materials handling and cross-dock service. The company is based in Rotterdam and employs 55 people.
The Rotterdam Corporate Park has more than 3.7 million square feet of space and is the largest business park in the Capital Region. Tenants include Railex, Fedex Freight, Golub Corporation, GE, J&B Importers, ITR America, Captech Logistics, Huff N Puff and many others.
The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority will provide a payment in lieu of tax (PILOT) for the project that calls for the company to continue to pay 100% of taxes owed on vacant land where the project will be built plus 50% of the taxes on the new building increasing by 5% each year until the building is 100% on the tax rolls.
Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “We welcome this investment by the Galesi Group in Rotterdam. It continues the solid progress being made at the Rotterdam Corporate Park where we continue to attract new jobs and new companies.”
The Galesi Group is the largest real estate developer and investor in the Capital Region with a diverse portfolio of over 11 million square feet of space. This includes commercial and industrial properties, medical/healthcare offices, mixed-use facilities and multi-family communities. The company is also involved in real estate, third party logistics and the oil and gas industry in California, Texas, New York City and other states. For more information, see www.galesi.com.
