SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Capital Region Land Bank Board of Directors met last evening and approved $68,500 in funding to demolish a vacant, blighted building at 1713 Van Vranken Avenue.
“This continues the strong progress we are making on the Northside of Schenectady,” said Richard Ruzzo, Chair of the Land Bank and a member of the Schenectady County Legislature. “The Van Vranken corridor is a key entryway to Schenectady and the New Northside Village has made a big improvement in the look and feel of this neighborhood. The removal of this blighted building will make way for new housing and greenspace, continuing revitalization of the Northside neighborhood.”
The Capital Region Land Bank builds neighborhoods by eliminating blighted structures that are beyond repair as well as renovating and building new housing in Schenectady County and the City of Amsterdam.
The Land Bank is administered by Metroplex as part of Schenectady County’s unified economic development team.
