SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Capital Region Land Bank has approved the demolition of a vacant building at 1714-16 Main Street in the Village of Delanson and awarded a contract worth nearly $60,000 to Dan’s Demo and Hauling, Inc. to complete abatement and demolition of the building.
Delanson Mayor Gayle Gifford said, “We had a vacant, badly damaged property on our Main Street, and I reached out to County Legislators Holly Vellano and Tony Jasenski to ask for their help. They quickly responded and put me in touch with the Land Bank, which is run by Metroplex. A few months later we have site control and a demolition contract awarded. We are very grateful to the County for working with us to eliminate this blighted property and beautify our Village.”
The demolition is scheduled to occur in late December.
Richard Ruzzo, Chair of the Land Bank, and a member of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “I thank my colleagues Legislators Vellano and Jasenski for bringing the Landbank in to help remove a second vacant property in Delanson. The Land Bank recently demolished a building on Elm Street in the Village and will now move to this site on Main Street. The Land Bank is committed to revitalizing neighborhoods across the County in a focused effort to improve the quality of life for property owners and residents throughout our community.”
The Capital Region Land Bank is administered by Metroplex as part of Schenectady County’s unified economic development team.
