Capital Living and Rehabilitation Centres Opens New Skilled Nursing Facility

August 22, 2013

Schenectady, N.Y. – Capital Living and Rehabilitation Centres will celebrate the grand opening of its new Skilled Nursing Facility at 526 Altamont Avenue, Schenectady with an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a ribbon cutting hosted by The Chamber of Schenectady County on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 5 p.m.

The state-of-the-art, 161,000-square-foot facility will contain 112 fully private rooms. Current residents of Capital Living’s properties at The Avenue in Schenectady and The Dutch Manor in Rotterdam will be transferred to their new home in early September.

The Skilled Nursing Facility, which is named The Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, represents a $39 million investment and is designed to be more efficient for staff and user-friendly for residents and their families. It will feature well-designed semi-private rooms, natural lighting, an exceptionally large rehabilitation therapy gym and a medical suite. In addition, outpatient rehabilitation services will be available.

The design accommodates more flexibility in dining areas, secured outdoor space and ample open green space, thereby greatly improving the quality of life for residents.

According to Capital Living CEO Patrick Martone, “This is a 10-year dream that is a clinically designed, state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility with a homelike environment to meet both the current and future needs of Schenectady and Albany County residents.”

“This is a great investment in our community,” said Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy. “The new Skilled Nursing Facility will ensure that we are able to provide quality care to those who need it the most.  I’m thankful that Mr. Martone and his team are part of Schenectady’s team.”

Chamber of Schenectady County President added, “The Chamber celebrates and applauds Capital Living and Rehabilitation Centres’ commitment, major investment  and the quality of care that  the new state-of-the-art Skilled Nursing Facility will offer the citizens of the city, county and region.”

“Capital Living is a leader in providing senior care services. This $39 million private investment is the single largest investment in the City of Schenectady since the new GE Battery Plant. We are very grateful to Capital Living for this major commitment to Schenectady,” said Ray Gillen, Chair of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority.
