SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — With spring comes a fresh blast of momentum on developments reshaping the downtown Schenectady landscape.

The city is partnering with Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority to rebuild a battered connector street and renovate an underutilized parking lot near the Mill Artisan Project, the massive commercial and residential complex that has transformed lower State Street.

The South Church Street Renewal Project will repair an underutilized parking lot and pothole-riddled street, work officials say is designed to top off an intense focus of investment.

“We’ve invested tens of millions of dollars on lower State Street and Erie Boulevard and this connection feels like the street was forgotten,” said city Engineer Chris Wallin.
