(Schenectady, NY) Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature, today thanked Governor Cuomo for supporting a $5 million NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) reconstruction project on Hamburg Street in the Town of Rotterdam. The award is made available through the NYSDOT which administers the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The funding will fully support the reconstruction of Hamburg Street (NY Route 146) between Howell Street and Careleon Road in the Town of Rotterdam, including the installation of new sidewalks, curbs, medians, and other streetscape improvements.
“I want to thank Governor Cuomo for supporting this important funding through the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program,” said Chair Jasenski. “This business corridor has long been a target for improvements by our County unified economic development team in partnership with the Town of Rotterdam and the Hamburg Street Merchants Association. The investment in this project will not only improve traffic safety on Hamburg Street, but will add to the momentum of our redevelopment efforts that began with the opening of the new UCC building and will expand to other parcels and buildings.”
The grant will pay 100 percent of the costs. No County funds are required for completion of the project.
