SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Schenectady County Community College’s (SCCC) Board of Trustees passed two resolutions Monday, awarding bids received for renovations of its 201 State Street property. SCCC plans to utilize the building donated by the Kindl family to house the college’s Workforce Development programs.

“Workforce training and development is fundamental to everything we do at Schenectady County Community College,” said Denise Murphy McGraw, Chairwoman of the SCCC Board of Trustees. “We thank the Kindl family for donating $50,000 and this facility at 201 State Street, allowing us to expand our workforce development programming to further SCCC’s initiatives.”

Bunkoff General Contractors Inc. and Mid-State Industries, Ltd. were awarded the façade/exterior improvements and roof repairs respectively, based on their lowest bids. The Kindl Building renovation is equally funded by both Schenectady County and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

SCCC worked with Schenectady County to develop appropriate bid packages for the work at 201 State Street.  SCCC thanks Schenectady County for their cooperation in ensuring that this project moved forward. The renovations of 201 State Street are part of the overall plan to redevelop lower State Street, which connects SCCC’s main campus, its new student housing and SCCC’s expanding facility at Center City.

“We are looking forward to getting renovations underway,” said Dr. Quintin Bullock, President of SCCC. “Expanding into this facility will allow the Division of Workforce Development to expand non-credit offerings and specialize training  with business and industry.”
