Schenectady, N.Y., November 21, 2007 — The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority today announced that John Camaj, downtown Schenectady’s “Pizza King,” will relocate from to 122 Jay Street making way for a new development on State Street called Clinton Square.

The new location is located at the end of the Jay Street pedestrian walkway directly across from Schenectady City Hall with ample parking and great visibility to current and future customers.

“Long live the Pizza King in downtown Schenectady,” said Ray Gillen, Chair of Metroplex.

John Camaj, owner of Pizza King said, “Metroplex has helped me find a new location and I am very pleased to be staying in downtown Schenectady.   I look forward to serving my customers at the new location for many years to come.”

Camaj will lease space at 122 Jay Street. The building was recently purchased and will be renovated as a mixed use complex with apartments on the top two floors and the Pizza King occupying approximately 1,700 square feet at street level.

Metroplex will buy out the lease on Camaj’s existing space at 469 State Street for $40,000. When Metroplex purchased 469 State Street, the development agency told Camaj that the building was in such poor that he needed to relocate. Metroplex has been working to identify a suitable location downtown so that new construction can begin at the State Street site.

The Pizza King will relocate to Jay Street following renovation work. He expects to occupy the new location in February 2008.

Metroplex expects to unveil final designs for the new mixed use Clinton Square development worth more than $5 million. In the past 30 days, the development agency has announced more than $120 million in new investments in Schenectady County.
