Schenectady County, N.Y. — The Schenectady County Legislature today announced a tentative lease agreement for the former Duane Branch of the Schenectady County Public Library System with Brian Abraham, a professional boxer who will use the space as a boxing, fitness and training center focusing on providing fitness options for inner-city youth. The County Legislature will vote on the lease agreement at its meeting Tuesday.
“This is a great reuse for the former library branch,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “For many years this location served as a place where our youth could exercise their minds, and it will now be a place where they can exercise their body.”
Mr. Abraham will use the facility to keep our inner city youth off the streets by providing a nurturing environment where they can engage in productive activities. Mr. Abraham has been a professional boxer since 2008, fighting throughout the northeast. He previously operated a boxing and fitness facility in the City of Schenectady.
