Schenectady, N.Y. — In appreciation of the month-long run of Lion King at Proctors, which will attract over 81,000 people to downtown Schenectady, Metroplex today announced that parking at all of its surface lots and the Metroplex garage will be free of charge this Thursday, April 14th. The Lion King matinee will take place at 1:00 pm followed by an evening performance starting at 8:00 pm.
The Lion King opened at Proctors on March 22nd and ends its almost month-long run in Schenectady on April 17th.
Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “We wanted to thank Proctors and the cast and crew of Lion King for their hugely successful run here in Schenectady. While parking is free of charge on nights and weekends, normally we would collect parking fees for a weekday matinee show. To celebrate all that the Lion King has done for Schenectady, we are waiving all parking fees this Thursday.”
In addition, the Picotte Companies, owners of 1 Liberty Square on Lafayette Street, and MVP Healthcare on State Street, are making supplemental parking available for the day for downtown employees so that more spaces are available to those attending the Lion King matinee.
